"Childrens Coin Campaign"

Mrs. Nagle's Seventh Grade Class at Wallace Grade School
"2008 Class Winners"

Nineteen area schools pooled their coins to surpass the million-penny goal for the third year in a row.  The combined efforts of the school children demonstrate how individuals working together can do great things for a community.  The final count was $10,818.15!!! This surpasses the goal of $9,000.  Over 5,106 students and teachers accomplished this major feat.  Mrs. Mollie Nagle’s 7th grade class from Wallace School came in first collecting $44.942 per student--$808.95 class total.  Mrs. Kathy Ferko’s  8th grade class from Wallace School came in second, collecting $26.37 per student, or $553.71 for the class. Third place went to Sally Mathis’ 3rd grade class at Grand Ridge Grade School with $17.17 per student or $326.29 for the class.  Top school honors go to Grand Ridge Grade School, contributing $2,446.43. Thanks to all the area school administrators and staff for sharing the mission of United Way with their classes and encouraging students to contribute. Special thanks to Rebekah Varland, a seventh grader from Grand Ridge School for designing the t-shirt for the winning class.
